The 8 Things You Should Never Say to a Client
When making a sale or pitching to a prospect, there a lot of great things to say. There are also some really bad things to say. Things such as the wrong name of the prospect. The wrong pronunciation of the client's correct name. It is also a big mistake to make assumptions. Especially when it comes to pregnancy. Never assume. Never ask.
It is important to always be prepared to talk to your clients. Never go into a meeting unprepared. Know the names, history, and background of the company. Do your research and it will show. Don't just show up for meetings or conference calls.
Be careful how you talk about your own company. Emphasize that your entire company is very skilled in what they do. Don't indicate that you have subpar employees on your staff.
And finally, if your client wants something that you can't provide, don't give up on that need. Come up with an alternative solution to present, and show your client that your attitude isn't one of "It's too bad. You'll just have to deal with it."
